Escaping Reality

Escaping Reality

TikTok has more than 800 million active users.

And it has quickly become my favorite social media app. Personally, I use TikTok as my primary source of workout videos, plant care tips, comedy shorts, recipes, renovation inspo, and cleaning/organizing tips. As someone who usually has a hard time shutting my brain off, I’ve found it very easy to escape from reality and into the TikTok community for an hour or two every day. One of my favorite things about the app is how the algorithm gives me content that almost always makes me feel like I’m learning something.

In this week’s episode of Do What You Can For The People, I chat with my favorite (and only) sister-in-law about the digital platforms we turn to as an escape from reality. As project managers and lovers of learning and laughter, we’ve found ourselves gravitating towards the same social media platforms, games, television shows, and entertainers. Finding these little online communities has been especially important in a time where physically socializing is not feasible. They also serve as creative platforms for expressing or exploring particular passions!
